I provide mock exam sessions aimed at children taking the Kent 11 + Test for grammar schools, the ISEB and local Independent school exams, including Sevenoaks School.

Actual past exam papers for the 11Plus test are not available per se (plus its format and style are ever-changing), so these mock exams have been written to provide a cross-section of material that has been tested in recent years; their content has been modelled on previous pupil’s feedback. I believe it is wise for children to gain experience of taking exams with a wide range of formats, question numbers and styles. The format of these mock exams may, therefore, differ from that written by other exam providers.

A big part of your child’s success in any exam is staying calm, so that they can perform to the best of their ability. These mock tests give children a chance to practice tests n a formal, unfamiliar environment with children from other schools. Having the chance to do so can help overcome any nerves later on. It builds their confidence and enables the, to perfect exam technique and timing.. They also give experience of potential distractions (e.g. invigilator movements, other pupils coughing etc), time management, management of toilet breaks and reading/listening to formal instructions etc.

EASTER MOCK EXAMS (aimed at Year 5 pupils)

These are held in Kippington Centre during the Easter holidays in April.

The format is multiple-choice on paper, marked by hand.

These Easter mock exams are designed to test a child’s knowledge at this crucial, midway point in their year 5 academic year. They help to give children and parents an insight of what to expect during the real exams later on, and serve to highlight any potential aspect of test conditions that may cause your child to feel uneasy.

ENGLISH and MATHS are tested as 2 separate exams at this half year stage.

(This enables testing of a wider range of topics and therefore more efficient identification of any topics needing improvement; personal tutoring can thereafter be tailored specifically to cover and overcome any unfamiliar topics in plenty of time.)

VERBAL and NON VERBAL REASONING are tested as a joint 1 hour mock exam.

All exams results will be entered onto a spreadsheet and sent to you within a week, so you can view your child’s scores, plus those of their cohort (anonymously).

Children attending come from a wide cross-section of local schools, so it can be highly useful to assess how your child performs against their local peers, and not just those in their class.

To view the timing of the exams, please see the timetable below.

AUGUST MOCK EXAMS (designed for Year 5/6 pupils)

These are held in Kippington Centre during the summer holidays in August.

The format is multiple-choice on paper, marked by hand.

There are 2 separate mornings of exams, available to book on 2 separate days. Each of these 2 days has different exam material and content, so your child could attend one day (or both days if they would like additional practice).

ENGLISH and MATHS are tested as a joint 1-hour exam

DECEMBER  MOCK EXAMS (designed for Year 6/7 pupils)

These are held in Kippington Centre on the morning of day 1 of the 4-day December Course between Christmas and New Year

They are particularly useful for those pupils about to sit an independent school exam in January, especially Sevenoaks School.

The format is in the style of previous Sevenoaks School exam papers. It is on paper and workings/planning must be shown to gain full marks. In Maths, answers written without modelled workings may not receive full marks, even if the final answer is correct. Conversely, an incorrect answer supported by correct workings may still receive marks.

The Maths exam will be marked by us. Correct answers will be modelled during the Maths Revision sessions on day 2 of the Course, and common errors discussed.

The English answers will be modelled on days 3 and 4 during the English sessions of the 4 day Revision Course, and common pitfalls discussed.

Payment for all mock exam days is required two months in advance, and is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Please  note that a non-refundable deposit of £20 per mock exam day (in April and August only) is required at the time of booking to secure the place.
